Cloisonne, brass and glass cased mantle clock, surmounted by an urn finial, enamel dial with roman numerals, striking on a gong, 45cm high
The right hand pillar has been pulled away from the clock, distorting the cloissone panels at the top and causing sections of the pillar to be mis-aligned. The bottom of square of the pillar is coming apart at the joints.
There are no obvious damages to the cloisonne or glass.
There are no keys and we could not wind this clock. When the pendulum was set swinging, there was an audible tick but the hands did not move and pendulum then stopped within a few minutes. When the hands were adjusted past the hour it did strike.
As clocks contain many complex parts we would therefore not make any representations as to their workings and ultimately all lots are ‘sold as seen’. It is always advised that these be taken for a general service as further repair works may be necessary. This would be the sole responsibility of the bidder.
